My self-image is changing in the United States #025

Here in the United States, I feel that my self-image is changing. In terms of domestic life, I am now more influenced by yellow light. In my home in Brazil and in various environments, I was always under white LED light. For me, yellow light, as I said before, was something from my childhood.

In yellow light, I feel that I don't spend as much time noticing "defects" on my face like pimples, blemishes, wrinkles, etc. It's a light that doesn't make things as obvious as it does with white light.

Another thing is the media here. The things that are exported, such as movies and some series, show many beautiful and attractive people. But the local media, such as newspapers, TV shows and commercials, show people of all types. These are spaces in Brazil where I feel that there would be more pressure to fit people into the beauty standard.

I never had self-esteem in Brazil, I felt this social pressure, of the extreme valorization of beauty. But here I feel that it's something lighter, everyone is who they are and does what they want.

So I can say that the impact of American society on my self-image has been positive so far.
