My strange process of learning English #023

I'm still a little afraid of communicating in English. I've been in the United States for a month now and I'm slowly gaining confidence in the language. I'm slowly learning a few words, but my biggest difficulty is using conjunctions to form more complex ideas in sentences. I can get by in English, but I still need a little more vocabulary to become fluent. Little by little, the words enter my mind.

A very curious phenomenon that happens to me is that some people I understand almost 100%, while there are people I understand about 50%, I understand more or less what is being said, but I can't fully connect the ideas. However, the more I spend time with the person, the better I can understand what they mean. Everyone has their own way of communicating, some people speak faster, others slower, some people have better diction, others have a thicker accent. In a society, each individual has their own nuances.

The way people speak in real life is different from what people say in courses, movies, and TV series. Sometimes there is an expression or slang that people use more in a region that you are not used to. You need to be aware of this when you use the language on a daily basis. I believe that over time, your brain will identify patterns that you have not come across before and over time it will become easier to understand.

Reality is always different from expectations, so you need to give yourself time to adapt.
